Bila tahu Dayak sudah hilang taring, mereka guna cara mereka...upah Gangster..!

Di mana Rentap, di mana Rosli Dhobi,di mana hulu balang lagenda Keling, dimana 'Lakin Ayau' zaman memenggal kepala?. Zaman pra-kaloni dan pejajahan keluarga Brook telah lama berlalu,mungkin sekarang tibanya zaman penjajahan cara baru?. Sedar akan kehilangan taring masyarakat Dayak, ada pihak memanipulasi keadaan dan menggunakan peluang ini sepenuhnya bagi memenuhi kerakusan mengejar keuntungan. Banyak syarikat kroni telah mengaut keuntungan berbilion ringgit. Perkongsian kepentingan ini mungkin merelakan tindak-tanduk yang mengetepikan batasan kemanusiaan dan hak asasi penduduk Dayak yang rata-ratanya masih dibelenggu dengan kemiskinan. Dalam isu tanah NCR, ada yang masih takut dengan peruntukan Kanun Tanah Sarawak yang sengaja dibuat oleh pembuat undang-undang bagi terus melenyapkan tanah asal.Takut dengan 'gangster' yang diupah oleh syarikat balak. Takut dengan ketua masyarakat dan YB yang berkomplot dengan syarikat balak.Dayak di dalam keadaan tertekan apabila jentera kerajaan seperti polis dan Land & Survey menutup sebelah mata. Bagi syarikat yang sudah kaya, mereka sanggup mengupah 'gangster' melindungi mereka dan mengugut orang kampung. Tindakan ini dilakukan secara terbuka dan tidak diambil serius oleh pihak polis dan mungkin mereka ingin peristiwa di Ulu Niah dulu akan berulang lagi?. Atau mungkinkah mereka ingin tahu tahap kesabaran penduduk asal mempertahankan hak mereka. Jika kompeni dan gangster berani bertindak kerana wang, adakah orang asal tidak berani kerana hak mereka?.Laporan oleh MBF (Borneo Manser Fund)dibawah benar-benar hampir ke tahap batas kesabaran masyarakat asal.

Kini syarikat dan kerajaan bertindak ala samseng dalam merampas hak orang asal atas nama 'pembagunan' yang dicanangkan. Ini bukan masalah baru, tetapi sudah lama berlaku di kawasan pedalaman. Malah ada gangster yang boleh membuka syarikat balak sendiri dan mencuri kayu balak. Di Baram umpanya, kesemua syarikat balak mengupah 'gangster' menjaga operasi mereka. Perusahaan kilang papan Temala suatu ketika,dipenuhi dengan pekerja Indonesia yang tidak ada permit. Di dalam tempoh tersebut limpahan mereka menggalak aktiviti tidak menyihatkan termasuk 'sabung ayam', berjudi, pengedaran pil aktasi dan juga kerap terlibat dengan pergaduhan yang pernah meyebabkan kematian. Ada yang mengupah pekerja berbangsa cina yang tidak ada kerja dan semata-mata menjaga kem balak sahaja. Adakah pihak berkuasa buta menanggani masalah ini? masalah budaya samseng.

Shocking new cases of violence against indigenous peoples in Sarawak
HSBC-funded oil palm company hires gangsters to intimidate native landowners - Two native landowners critically hurt by timber company officials
KUCHING, SARAWAK (MALAYSIA). BLD Plantation Bhd, a Malaysian oil palm company that counts HSBC Malaysia among its principal bankers, has hired over 100 armed thugs to intimidate native landowners who are opposed to the forceful "development" of their land into an oil palm plantation.
According to the Borneo Resources Institute Malaysia, around 100 armed gangsters had been brought in two buses from Sibu to Rumah Ranggong on 17 February in an attempt to intimidate the longhouse residents. The gangsters had brought along parangs (large knifes) and some explosives. Fearing for their safety, some of the longhouse residents reported the case to the police who arrested the gang leader and sent the rest away. The longhouse people had been defending their lands against an oil palm development by Niamas Istimewa, a BLD subsidiary. BLD plantation is part of the KTS group that is also active in Indonesia, China, Brazil and Australia.
In a separate, even more shocking case, two native landowners, Minggat Nyakin and Juan Minggat, were beaten up on 14 February at a timber log-pond in Sungai Rusa, Sarikei Division. According to Sarawak's indigenous peoples' network, TAHABAS, the two had been complaining against illegal logging on their native lands with the timber company manager. It appears that the illegal loggers are being protected by the police and the Sarawak authorities. The case is symptomatic for the culture of corruption and the lack of law enforcment in the Sarawak timber and plantation sector.

Ini adalah muka-muka pekerja syarikat yang diupah menjaga kompeni syarikat kelapa sawit. Kejadian ini adalah yang terbaru melibatkan rumah panjang Ranggong dan Belilie di Ulu Niah dengan BLD Resources:

TPM Ke Long Panai

KUCHING: Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tutoh Apoh, sebuah sekolah luar bandar di Long Panai, Baram yang sekolah paling kerap dilanda banjir di Malaysia akan menjadi tumpuan istimewa Timbalan Perdana Menteri, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin dalam lawatan dua hari beliau ke Sarawak, mulai Khamis depan.

Muhyiddin yang juga Menteri Pelajaran, akan menghadiri taklimat dan tinjauan ke sekolah berkenaan yang mendapat peruntukan dari kerajaan persekutuan sebanyak RM50 juta bagi membina semula bangunan baru sekolah itu selepas mengambil kira keadaannya yang semakin daif dan terjejas oleh banjir.

Menurut satu kenyataan daripada pejabat Timbalan Perdana Menteri, Muhyiddin dijadual menghadiri majlis pemimpin bersama rakyat di Uma Beluvuh, Long Panai, yang mempunyai majoriti kaum Orang Ulu.Sebelum itu, Muhyiddin akan menaiki helikopter ke Ulu Lubai, Limbang bagi menghadiri majlis pengiktirafan Sekolah Berprestasi Tinggi Kohort Dua di SK Ulu Lubai sebelum melakukan tinjauan mesra ke Rumah Panjang Tugang, Ulu Lubai.

Sebelah petang, beliau akan menghadiri majlis pemimpin bersama rakyat di dewan masyarakat Batu Niah di Miri dan seterusnya berangkat ke Kuching untuk majlis pemimpin bersama rakyat bersempena dengan sambutan Chap Goh Mei di Hotel Hilton.

Pada Jumaat, Muhyiddin akan melawat Pusa di Betong untuk membuat tinjauan mesra dan sesi bersama rakyat di Pekan Pusa serta ke industri kecil gula apong dan kuih sepit di Kampung Pusa.

Beliau kemudiannya akan melawat Kampung Manggut, Spaoh di Betong untuk menghadiri perasmian Jalan Tuie/Supa/Manggut sebelum melawat Debak, juga di bahagian Betong.
Di Debak, Muhyiddin dijadual menunaikan solat Jumaat di masjid Darul Solihin dan seterusnya menghadiri majlis jamuan makan bersama rakyat di sana.

Muhyiddin akan berlepas pulang ke Kuala Lumpur dari Lapangan terbang Antarabangsa Kuching dengan pesawat khas pada sebelah petang. – BERNAMA

Apa kata kita berkongsi sedikit pandangan daripada salah satu pengunjung STU yang memberi maklumbalas berhubung isu NCR. Beliau mendakwa dirinya bekerja dengan Land and Survey dan ada beberapa perkara yang beliau dakwa berlaku di dalam proses pengambilan tanah NCR serta beberapa masalah yang telah dan bakal dihadapi oleh OU dalam melindungi hak tanah mereka....




Hi all,I am a Land Surveyor and has been directly involved in negotiating and doing physical survey works for NCR status lands for Sarawak politicians and PL lands for local oil palm companies in northern region of Sarawak.What i would like to share here is that it is very obvious the CM is not willing to give back what belongs to other people.For all genuine NCR landowners who have been residing at their NCR lands until this very day since independence and wish to convert their land status to Agriculture title land,my advice is please get or arrange to prepare all the documents needed like L&S T735 topo map which clearly shows NCR lands,letters endorsed by respective penghulu or temenggong and latest boundary survey plan done by either licence L&S or free lance surveyor that can give endorsement plan (Please sacrifice a bit of money for your own future).This types of survey works not neccesarily have to be done using totalstation which is expensive in the survey fees but a handheld GPS is good enough already and cheap.The most important data is the acreage and the coordinates of the boundary points of the said land.With all these documents ready,now comes the hardest parts which is to find a way to get to Awang Tengah either through front door (Lihan Jok) or any back door way as he is the ONLY ONE that have the authority to convert native land.I know this because i am the one preparing all the documents and was personally told by my clients whom mostly are state political secretaries.Please do not go looking for L&S divisional superitendent as he is completely powerless to help.The last case of native NCR land problem that i was around to witness was during the meeting as an observer at Long Lama.It is the Sabah-Bintulu gas pipeline project and at that particular time,all of the attendees mostly from Lg Puak,Uma Akeh and Lg Banyok were not happy because their land is not recognise by the government.Well,I wish all the best.

DUN Sarawak Mungkin Dibubarkan Minggu Ini

The Malaysia Insider melaporkan ada sumber dari Astana Sarawak menyatakan Ketua Menteri Sarawak, Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud akan berjumpa dengan Tun Abang Muhammad Salahuddin Abang Barieng pada Jumaat ini bagi meminta perkenan membubarkan DUN Sarawak.

Buat masa ini BN Sarawak memegang 63 kerusi daripada 71-kerusi keseluruhanya, dengan 35 dipengang oleh PBB, 12 oleh Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP), masing-masing 8 oleh Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) dan Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP).
Daripada 8 kerusi selebihnya, DAP memegang 6, PKR satu, dan Bebas satu.

Kemudahan kesihatan di Ulu Baram masih di tahap yang amat tidak memuaskan. Kedudukan kampung-kampung yang jauh dari pekan dan pusat bandar amat menyukarkan keadaan terutama dalam keadaan kecemasan. Di bahagian Baram Tengah, hospital Marudi adalah satu-satunya hospital dan juga klinik kesihatan di Long Lama bagi menampung semua keperluan di daerah ini. Kerajaan pernah mencadang membuka satu klinik kesihatan di Long Lama yang terletak di seberang bazar Long Lama. Apakah perancangan ini selari dengan apa yang dicadangkankan oleh YB Telang Usan, En Lihan Jok untuk memindahkan bazar Long Lama ke seberang lokasi bazar ini sekarang? Tender berikut pernah dikeluarkan, dan masyarakat masih menunggu agar kemudahan kesihatan dapat memenuhi keperitan mereka:

Apa pun perancang bagi membendung keperluan kesihatan masih lagi di tahap yang tidak memuaskan. Klinik Kesihatan Long lama, satu-satunya masih beroperasi dengan seorang doktor.Walaubagaimanapun masyarakat OU masih memerlukan kemudahan kesihatan yang baik dan merupakan keperluan yang terpenting selain daripada membaik pulih sistem pendidikan OU.

"Terima Kasih" PKTS..?

Kemelut berhubung isu tanah NCR yang tidak begitu disenangi oleh banyak pihak di Daerah Tuto Apoh and juga Baram Tengah belum lagi mendapat kata putus. Di Kampung Long Banyok dan Long Ikang Baram,pemetaan tanah dan konsesi (PL) untuk tujuan penanaman kelapa sawit telah dibuat. Imbuhan yang dijanjikan oleh PKTS adalah RM150/hektar mendapat reaksi bercampur-campur oleh penduduk kampung. Di Long Banyok umpamanya, perjanjian konsesi yang dikeluarkan oleh PKTS ternyata tidak menguntungkan penduduk dan risiko kehingan hak tanah pada masa akan datang.Penduduk Long Ikang juga mula membantah usaha tersebut selepas beberapa bantahan sebelum ini di Long Panai, Tuto Apoh. Sekarang, siapa yang beria-ia dengan projek ini?.

Seperti yang dilaporkan di media tempatan Borneo Post pada 10 Februari 2011, ketua masyarakat daerah Baram mengucapkan terima kasih kepada PKTS kerana membangunkan tanah NCR.Kehadiran Temenggong Pahang Deng dan Pemanca Joesph Ngau Lian di PKTS Gallery baru-baru seolah-oleh memberi lampu hijau kepada syarikat itu terus mengondol tanah NCR di Ulu Baram tanpa kerelaan semua pihak. Temenggong Pahang juga mengeluarkan kenyataan bahawa syarikat PKTS melaksanakan tanggungjawab sosial dengan baik dan prihatin terhadap penduduk. Juga mempertahankan tindakan syarikat PKTS tidak mengambil tanah penduduk kampung, malah mengatakan bahawa PKTS serta pekerja syarikat tersebut sangat menghormati dan faham kehendak penduduk.Kehadiran dan kenyataan Temengong Pahang dan Pemanca Joseph disambut baik oleh Pengurus Korporat PKTS, Datuk Vincent G Chapman. Bagaimana pula dengan penduduk kampung di Daerah Baram keseluruhanya yang tanah mereka terlibat.? Adakah mereka sangat berpuas hati dan gembira dengan tidakan syarikat PKTS yang mempergunakan tanah NCR mereka dengan membelkangi hak dan masa depan mereka.

Ini merupaka tindakan memperdaya dan tidak telus oleh pihak berwajib di dalam mengedalikan tanah NCR OU yang terus diceroboh dan tidak menjanjikan pulangan pada masa akan datang.Tindakan seumpama ini harus difikirkan oleh semua OU agar hak mereka tidak tergadai oleh keputusan sesetnagah pihak terutamnya pihak yang mempunyai kepentingan di dalam projek seumpama ini.Jika T. Pahang dan Pemanca Joseph masih ingat dan faham hati rakyat, penduduk Lg Panai, Lg Ikang dan Lg Banyok telah membuat bantahan terhadap pencerobohan tanah ini. Tahun lepas satu petition telah dibuat dikalangan anak muda di Lg Banyok membantah keputusan dan tawaran PKTS tetapi tetapi masih dipertahankan oleh Penghulu Theodarus Lenjau Kulleh dengan alasan yang sama.Apa yang jelas kenyataan media oleh pihak tertentu tidaklah sebenarnya menggambarkan semua kehendak penduduk Baram. Sebenarnya, mereka inginkan HAK tanah NCR mereka dijaga, dihormati dan diakui oleh kerajaan dan tidak ditipu.

Baram Dam in My View and that of Lihan Jok

I have been thinking hard the past couple of days if I should write about this, to share with you on my thoughts about the proposal Baram Dam by the Sarawak Government.
You might think that I am not qualified to speak about environmental issues just because I have not been to a certain school or so, but I can tell you something for nothing there are some things in life one can not learn in school, and what I am speaking about is simple logic. I know where I come from and I know where I am going, what frightens me most of all is the people who will be occupying planet earth in time to come when you and I no more - dead and totally forgotten.

My take on dams blocking the Baram River is summed up in this sentence - Baram River and its tributaries to the Orang Ulu as veins and blood vessels are to the human body. Blocking the path way and holding back huge quantities of water or blood where it should not be held is a certain recipe for disaster. The Orang Ulus a racial group will be just history.

As the times change we have to change with it, we have the technologies our fore-fathers only dreamed of in time gone by, the time has now come to where our responsibility is to fine tune and adjust our mental attitude and understanding towards the real task that lay before us, for if earth is really heaven the planets and moons that surround us in space can be called hell.
After a long and hard reflection, I have decided to put my thoughts on the proposed Baram Dam in writing.
I may not be qualified academically or technically to give an appraisal on this proposal by the Sarawak State Government; however, as an Orang Ulu, I am well aware of the consequence of such a project on the immediate environment and the people of the Baram. I also foresee the long term repercussions which will affect the entire future of the region and the affected habitants. The deprivation resulting from this ravenous act will be felt and inherited by generations to come, long after those irresponsible offenders are dead and gone. The Baram River and the whole of the Baram District is so much a part of the Orang Ulu people and so to intervene by damming and drowning the Baram is like choking the Orang Ulu community, the ethnic people of the area. The blatant greed which motivates the destruction by damming it will mortally destroy the environment and the social structure of the people.

The Orang Ulu communities are not spared from universal change brought about by modern technologies and knowhow. Indeed the communities have to move on in tandem with advancement. At the same time the noble values which are ours as handed to us by our forefathers must never be discarded. These good values should instead by made relevant to the phase and outlook of the modern culture and our Christian faith.

On the 10th September 2010, Borneo Post published an article, occupying almost a quarter page of the broad sheet, titled, “Lihan insists Baram Dam a gift for Orang Ulu”. In the article Lihan Jok, the Member of State Legislative Council (ADUN) for Telang Usan, was quoted as saying, “I am not ashamed to say that the mega project is a gift from God because as a result of the project the government will build a 60-km road from Long Lama to the dam site at Long Keseh, benefitting about 12,000 Kayans from nine longhouses along the river,”. However, at an interview on 31st Jan 2011, by “Radio Free Sarawak” - http://radiofreesarawak.org/, when asked to elaborate on his comment, Lihan’s respond was rather elusive. Besides, from the way he answered the radio interviewer, it was possible that he wasn’t aware that the conversation was broadcasted or recorded.

Nonetheless, in my view Lihan’s interview with the radio gave one true picture of what is now happening to the whole Baram Dam issue. It is mysterious. It is a game of cat and mouse, there is no openness or transparency in the dealings. In fact the first time I heard about the proposed 12 dams was an article on the Bruno Manser Foundation Website, following all the hurly burly following the construction of the Bakun dam. Even those who will bear the brunt of it are not well informed about the proposed Baram dam if they are informed at all. Even at the present moment, perhaps the only place where it most is mentioned or debated about is in cyberspace. What little which is known or publicized about these dams is mostly found on blogs and emails by concerned individuals who themselves may not at all be the stakeholders.

In an issue of this gargantuan proportion, a normal government would first of all make sure that all the thorough studies are not only carried out but seen to be carried out. All results of such studies would thus be made available to the public especially those who are affected. Studies like the Environment Impact Assessment (EIA), Social Impact Assessments, Due Diligence etc. Public debates on the issue would then be encouraged and publicized. All comments would thus be valued and evaluated before any decision is made. All relevant issues raised and woes would therefore be appropriately addressed so that in the process of implementation and maintenance the project would use the best means in achieving a beneficial goal. The goal alone must not justify the means. Each statements made by authorities would be qualified with facts which are objective or based on proven and professional evaluation. But as can be seen with what is transpiring at the moment this particular government and their “leaders” does not believe in all the aforementioned. Forget about the “People First action now” rhetoric, it is just that and nothing more.

If we take Lihan’s statement in Borneo Post at face value to be facts, that there are “12,000 Kayans from nine longhouses along the river from Long Lama to Long Keseh” who will benefit from the road built to the dam site.” Yes there is no doubt that it sounds so attractive, indeed Lihan Jok’s prayer has been answered. (He said that he has been praying for trunk roads to be built to each village in Telang Usan.) Where there is no road, there will be roads. So these 12,000 Kayans will have roads. In the same Borneo Post article, Lihan claimed that this is “bigger picture” that critics must look at. But, looking at the “bigger picture” that Lihan invited us to focus on, I see a completely different scenario looming and that is one where the other Kayan, Penan and mostly Kenyah who are living in more than ten longhouses above Long Keseh. With the construction of the dam their longhouses or dwellings will be submerged or inundated.. So with this I would like to ask, about their fate brought about by the so called God given dam? Are they included in Liha’s prayer too? Did he pray for them to be totally eliminated with all they have and all they stand for? The resulting destruction and annihilation brought about by the flood from the dam is irrevocable and massive. Why all because Lihan his friends pray for roads to be constructed for 12,000 Kayan who live in longhouses below Long Keseh.

Once the dam is built, all the crops, fruit trees, graves, life stocks, longhouses, farm houses and land belonging to these group of Kayan, Penan & mostly Kenyah will vanish under a big, big lake which will reach Lio Mato, the furthers Kenyah longhouse in Baram. So all the talks about developments and projects for these villages will then be no more an issue for the government. All issues will disappear in the deep-deep blue water of the dam because of Lihan’s answered prayer. All the existing schools, churches, chapels clinics and places historical significance to the Orang Ulu will be wiped out. The heritage of our forefathers and the pride of our Orang Ulu like those from Dato Temagong Oyong Lawai Jau, Penghulu Tama Bulan Lian, Penghulu Jok Ngau, Penghulu Kebing, Penghulu Nyipa will be just fairy tails for our posterities. For not only will our heritage be destroyed the very remains of these great leaders of the past will be drown in the depth of the Baram Dam. The remains of all our forefathers whose cemetery we revere in the memories will also disappear. For those who keep the All Souls day as a day for remembering their deceased loved ones, they will not be able to visit their cemetery any more. There will be no need for quarrel or survey of Native Customary Right land any more, it will not be relevant. Even all the animals, insects, vegetations, flora & fauna will be no more. GONE!!! So what Noah was able to save with his ark during the Biblical flood, Lihan managed to eliminate with his pious prayer for road to benefit 12,000 Kayah living below Long Keseh.

Nagasaki and Hiroshima were destroyed by the atomic bomb during World War 2, but after the war the Japanese stood up from the ruins and pick up the pieces to rebuild the two cities. Now a day these cities are thriving once more and with a lesson well learned by the Japanese population. However, once the Baram Dam is constructed, the whole are will be deleted from the surface and there will not be any pieces to be gathered any more to rebuild the Baram.

Those who live above Long Keseh, well Lihan does not see the need for road there. Thanks to Prophet Lihan Jok!!!!
As for Lihan himself he has no problem at all since his longhouse is at Long Bedian which is down river at the tributary of the Baram. (But then at second thought, does he have a house in Long Bedian?) He is now living in a big mansion in Miri and at least one in Kuching. So this is the type of ADUN we want, a person who only prays for those in his constituency. Alleluia!!!
Conclusion
Before Sarawak Government can put together an environmental plan, which they claimed can be used to benefit Sarawak they (BN) must understand the type of people that they are dealing with, who are they, what do they believe in, how do they live, where do they live, what do they want, what do they need, etc.
YB Lihan Jok, some food-for-thoughts for you to bring home and reflect---for becoming elected YB, whether you like it or not --- is similar to when playing a game of Chess one first needs to understand the rules of the game, how the board is set up, what pieces you have and how they are able to move around the board.
The game of chess we must be able to have a strategy, a plan on what type of move or moves we want to make, watch the type of move our opponent make or is making, then try to anticipate ahead of time on what move he or she could make or is planning to make, then decide for our own self on how to counter attack and prevent our own people from getting into a situation that one does not want to be in. “Prophet” Lihan Jok should learn from this game of chess, if he cares.
Bothers and Sisters, may I ask on your favor, if there's anyone one of us in this email could help me translating the above to Bahasa Malaysia, Kayan, Kenyah, Kelabit, Penan, Iban, etc, for distribution before catastrophe incur.

Let me put it this way too from History's perspective. Who have a better logic to claim they are NATIVES OF SARAWAK as compared to Chinese who have settled in Sibu, Kuching and elsewhere in Sarawak long before some natives moved to Usun Apau and Ulu Baram.? As for us Kelabit, there has been recent study saying we have inhibited the Highlands more then 4000 years. I have pinned up the chart in RURUM Office , Seberkas Commercial Centre.

But here you guys saying Orang Ulu have been robbed of their NCR lands. Charles, my contention is the same as you guys. Yes we fight for our right but do we do it by blogging? I am a target by your group just because in my first e-mail I proposed we adopt professional modality to profile our Orang Ullu issues and prioritize how we go about to achieve them.

For your info, yesterday I have worked with a JKR friend to do a paper for Dato Sri Idris and Datu Ose to present to PM on the 7th prior to his Ba Kelalan visit so that he approves budget for the Ba Kelalan/Bario road which is just 40 KM. This is a n eg of how we prioritize our needs/issues. Of course we want the Bario/Miri road. But that may cost a billion. For that reason some support the Baram dam provided the affected inhabitants are given win win deal. So that is what I say we profile the issue. But you guys just blog and in your blog you call it FISH POND.

Ok lah Charles, how bad you guys try to portray me, my many professional Kelabits and other Orang Ulu, Chinese and Malay friends know who Dick Bala is. I am not worried when you guys heaped all kinds of rubbish on me. But once you bring in my innocent family members, then you guys are not HUMAN and professional at all. That is dirty politic per se.

Mr CG,

Thanks for prompting me to response and use my name abbreviation, BN and not DH like what Burak did. BN stands for my Kelabit name when we change name after our first child. It stands for Bala Ngimat . Recently I added in DBN which stands for Dick Bala Ngimat. That is because my nephew, Datu Robert Lian whose Kelabit Name is Balang Ngalibun (BN) . So just to differentiate and not to offend any Non BN supporters. My child that got me that honour is now working in KL. To share with you, , me and my brother spent RM10 K each for that party.

Now on to the subject you touched in your posting. I agree with you, our support for the Gov't is not blind support. I think I am older then most of you I copied this e-mail. I went to study in Primary 5 & 6 at Bukit Sabun Primary school in Long Lama. We travelled over-land from Bario through Lio Mattu and by boat to Long Lama. I have visited Long Laput and Tinjar then. As you said and contrary to what some said that BN Gov't did not bring any development to Baram. We became independent on 16-09-1963. There was no Upper Primary School in the Kelabit area. In The whole of Baram, there were 2 in Marudi and 1 in Long Lama. Now after 49 years we have several in Baram, many Secondary School and clinics too.

If we talk about road, I know part of the story from Datu Jabu and Datu Ose. Our first Orang Ulu lawyer, Datu Stephen Wan Ulok in PBB at that time was not preferred by us. We voted for SNAP in the then the late Dato Sri Balan and .Dato Luhat Wan. When Kebing was also in PBB, we voted for SNAP. Later, we changed our preferences because we were angry with the loggings. We voted for Harrison ngau and Kebing Wan who were in the opposition. That was how it was explained to me why Lapo road is like that!

I have since retired and I slogged hard to compliment the gov't to bring development into Bario area. We did a different kind of deal with Samling than what you guys did for your respective area. We did not want them to play us out village by village so we got 14 villages to stick together to deal and eventually signed ONE MOU with them which I shared with Cr. Simpson as they wanted similar strategy for Kedaya Telang Usan. Burak, that was why I proposed you guys organize us FORM for us to profile our Orang Ulu issues. I have used it for our Dialogue Team with Samling , for the Team on the Rural Air Service (RAS) with FAX and later MASWinbgs. You commented to me that these were cosmetic solutions. The Forum I proposed we use Joseph Bennon's modality.

I went to MU to attend International Law conference on Natives right from 25th to 26th this month ( some of you may have attended as I suspected) . My observation was , a few of the professors were highly academically qualified in their fields, but they did a poor presentation of their materials. I went for this seminar on how to do presentation and the moderator emphasized on the technique ROPE.

As regards to land issue. We are partly to be blamed. We have inherited an old culture which may in to-day's economic and diverse culture have to be reinvent. This is where BURAK you have to bring the best of Orang Ulu mind to sort this out. No amount of blogging could address this. Now the S'wak and Sabah labs came up with perimeter survey, some natives have misgivings for it. As for RURUM and I was appointed the Coordinator for the 24 villages focal persons, we have problems from the few villages who are against it. To me, perimeter survey is the solution for us in Bario before the road comes in and land for development would be a contention. When access road was built from Samling end of the road to Bario, people went in to clear the land to claim. There are 2 people who bypassed 2 villages and went to clear in my kpg area. So how to do individual title survey if we amongst ourselves in the villages do not recognize another Kpg's boundary and what more to say amongst siblings. They may cut each others' throat.

Charles, as for my own land in my kpg about 100 acres, I have fenced it to protect my buffaloes from marauding into others land and into my wet padi field and help themselves to my precious Bario rice - the best grain of Bario rice is from my kpg as confirmed by Mdm Teo of research unit of Agriculkture Dept as my village is between 4,000 to 5,000 feet above sea level. Bario is above 3,000 feet.

So Mr CG, you now have some insight into my thought why I did not want to spar with these guys. For one, they use pseud names and the moment you do not say things to their liking, they condemn you and say uncomplimentary things. I have been by my laptop since morning as I have been waiting for my JKR engineer the design and costing of 3 bailey bridges for Bario. I have to draft the letter for our RURUM President to sign and our Bario Penghulu( he is busy) to request for funding. My nature is I do not go to the papers and highlight the bridges conditions. I prefer to do the practical thing.

P/S: Mr.KK - You said in your posting that I am polishing BN balls as I want to be Bario Penghulu. If you are a TRUE PROFESSIONAL who has some semblance of integrity , you should not make a guessing game ands broadcast it to the whole world. That would make people suspect what you say and going to say from now on. Now let me let the cat out and it is totally the opposite version so I can call you a liar on this. When the Ex-Pemanca ( Dato Sri Idris's father) was about to call it time to go, he called me and my wife to his son-in-laws house one evening. He said Datu Ose recommended that I apply and he gave me 2 weeks to think about it. When 2 weeks passed he called me from Marudi that the D.O is waiting for my application. I apologetically said to him that me and my wife are not prepared to stay in Bario as I do not have a house there but in another kpg which does not have motorable road. Perginya Seorang Wira Kaum Penan

Pada 2 Februari 2011, jam 5.00 petang di Hospital Limbang, Along Sega menghembus nafasnya yang terakhir pada usia 70an. Beliau merupakan ketua masyarakat kaum Penan yang cukup disegani dan berani menentang pencerobohan hutan oleh syarikat pembalakan sejak tahun 80an lagi di daerah Limbang.Pernah menjadi penasihat kepada aktivis alam sekitar dari Swiss, Bruno Manser. Perjuangan beliau beliau pernah direkodkan di dalam siri dokumentari seperti Tong Tana, Blowpipes against Bulldozers, Lakei Penan dan The Last Nomads of Borneo.

Ditanya berkenaan perjuangan memulihara hutan dan hak tanah kaum Penan oleh Borneo Manse Fund, beliau berkata beliau cuba mendidik generasi muda untuk menerajui perjuangan mempertahankan hak kaum Penan.Beliau menegaskan bahawa generasi akan datang akan meneruskan perjuangan ini dan tidak akan mengalah.

Are you defending us your voters in Baram or defending Taib?" YB Dato Jacob Dungau Sagan our MP for Baram during a visit to Kampung Long Banyok, Baram recently told his audience not to listen to those who opposed the proposed Baram hydro project or dam sited between Kampong Long Nahah'a and Kampung Long Kesseh in the middle Baram. YB Jacob even said that he has been forewarned by the authorities that the dam will be implemented elsewhere and the billions of ringgit worth of projects associated with it will also be channelled elsewhere if the Baram people opposed the dam. YB Lihan Jok on the other hand has said that the proposed dam is "God's gift" to the people in Baram. But then, Dato Jacob, what is the worth of all the timbers from Baram extracted by the big companies all these years? Surely, they were worth hundreds of billions of ringgit. And the remaining timbers?

Surely, they are at least worth tens of billions of ringgit too. And what about our NCR lands in Baram now illegally alienated by your BN boss, Taib Mahmud, also to the big companies for oil palms and acacia trees? Surely, they are not only worth hundreds of billions of ringgit but will generate tens of billions of ringgit in time to come. For many terms now you are our wakil rakyat, our MP.

Now you are even a Deputy Minister. Do you understand what the roles of wakil rakyat are? You are holder of a master degree. Surely you know that. As a wakil of the rakyat of Baram, surely you know it is your most important role to act, speak and fight for and to defend the rights and interests of the rakyat of Baram without whose vote you would not have been what you are today.

So why is it that you have to go along with Taib and the BN govt threatening the people of Baram that if they do not support the proposed dam, the dam will not only be relocated elsewhere but so-called projects worth so-called billions of ringgits associated with the dam will be channeled elsewhere?

Is it because you want to save your post as Deputy Minister that you so readily support Taib and the BN to threaten our Baram people on the dam? If you do, that means you have abused our trust, mandate and votes as your real purpose is not to be our wakil rakyat but wakil your own personal pocket, agenda and interest! If you are scared to stand up to speak, fight and defend the rights and interests of the Baram people then you are definitely UNFIT to be our wakil rakyat.

A wakil (leader) must be courageous like our ancestors warriors! There is no point that you became Deputy Minister and enjoy all the many perks and privileges from it but your rakyat in Baram who had steadfastly voted for you for many many terms are continually bullied, humiliated, threatened or held to ransom (with withdrawal of socalled projects) robbed of our NCR lands and all our resources in it.

If you do not speak out, fight and defend us, then, you are not only failing us as our wakil rakyat but are also consciously SIDING with Taib and the BN and the big companies who robbed and are still robbing us of our rights, our NCR lands, our resources, etc. Surely, you are fully aware of the continual and aggravating problems faced by the settlers of the Batng Ai and the Bakun dam! If not pay a personal visit there and talk to the settlers directly about their situation. And don't talk out of ignorant or worse still just simply parroting what your boss Taib and Jabu (who caused his own Iban people to continue to be the poorest in Malaysia today)say.

Remember! Taib, Jabu, James Masing and the BN also said or promised the same thing before that the Batang Ai and Bakun dams will bring progress and development! But today they all have abandoned the people affected. SUHAKAM commissioners who personally visited Bakun recently reported that the problems faced by the settlers are worsening!!!!!And the penans in Belaga are even facing food shortage!!! YB Lihan Jok, don't simply sells God's name especially when it involves something that destroys HIS blessings, gifts and creations to the people of Baram, namely, the mighty Baram river, our NCR lands and its resources and environment which all have supported our people for many many generations without which you and YB Dato' Jacob won't be what you are today.

Remember, it was not Taib, Jabu or the BN that provided your parents the means and resources to send you to school. It was the NCR land that God blessed your parents with and its resources in Baram that enabled your parents to send you to school. By the way, if you really believe and trust in GOD, then, protect and defend God's creations, gifts and blessings, namely, our Baram river from being dammed by Taib! Don't be afraid but stand courageous and put your complete trust in God's protection of your position as YB, as wakil rakyat or as Deputy Minister post (like what God did to Daniel when he was thrown into the lions den) Also do not be worried of being blackmailed or held to ransom with threat of projects and billions of ringgit to be withdrawn from Baram if we do not support the Baram dam.

Those are but only human or worldly threat from Taib, Jabu and the BN! GOD is still the ALMIGHTY one above them. GOD will still provide all our needs according to what we deserved to get from HIM. Unless you do not trust GOD but your boss Taib and Jabu! Hope to hear an early response from our two YBs soon on this.

Adakah Semuanya Dah 'Beres' YB?

Cuma nak mengimbas kembali sedikit cerita di telang usan sebelum penggal 5 tahun melabuh tirai. Mungkin ada banyak cerita lagi dan kita masih banyak masa untuk berbicara lagi.



Masalah tanah NCR. Baru –baru ini diumumkan perimeter survey akan dibuat di seluruh kawasan di Baram. Adakah tindakan ini telus, sekiranya banyak kawasan di ulu Baram telah diberi konsesi kepada syarikat kroni terutamanya yang syarikat perladangan kelapa sawit dan juga balak. Malah ada banyak lagi tanah diantara persempadanan kampong yang dikatakan ‘State Land’ terutama tanah yang dikenali sebagai ‘Tu’an’ or ‘ Pemakai Menua’ oleh penduduk tempatan. Jadi tanah mana yang akan disukat? Adakah perimeter survey akan mengukur keliling kawasan kampong dan dusun-dusun buah-buahan sahaja sebagai NCR? Dan selebihnya…State Land..?


Cadangan Empangan Baram-projek yang akan dibuat selepas Bakun dan Murum. Projek ini mendapat bantahan awal daripada kebanyakan masyarakat ulu Baram dan juga beberapa badan NGO . Di dalam kerancakan memperkenalkan projek ini, beliau telah melahirkan kenyataan yang cukup kontroversi ..”Dam is God Gift”.


Jalan LAPOK. Sinonim dengan nama jalan ini, isu ini memangpun telah lapok dan tidak pernah mendapat jalan penyelesaian hingga sekarang.YB telang Usan mungkin telah lali dengan kritikan setelah 3 penggal memeggang mandat di DUN Telang Usan. Dan seperti biasa, cerita tentang jalan Lapok ini akan menjadi hangat apabila pilihanraya semakin hampir.


Kemudahan asas air dan elektrik. Cuma ada sedikit kelegaan apabila ada peruntukan tangki air telah diagihkan di Telang Usan. Walaubagaimanapun, jika melihat dari sudat pandangan jauh, sampai bila OU hidup dengan air tadahan air hujan terus ke dalam tangki?. Apakah kualiti air yang tidak dirawat ini selamat?. Ketiadaan sumber elektrik mendorong penduduk Telang Usan banyak bergantung kepada enjin gererator. Apakah kita terfikir bagaimana bebannya di masa harga minyak kian naik?.

Merubah perlantikan ketua-ketua masyarakat. Menegaskan semua ketua masyarakat berkerja selari dengan hasrat kerajaan. “Ketua masyarakat tidak seharusnya menggigit tangan orang yang member mandat kepada beliau”, YB Lihan. Ini jelas terbukti bahawa beberapa ketua masyarakat telah menerima musibah seperti di Long Semiyang, Long Bedian dan juga perlantikan ketua masyarakat yang berunsur ‘favoritism’ dan bukanya sokongan penduduk kampong.

Kes rogol masyarakat Penan-Mula dihebahkan melalui media oleh Borneo Manser Fund (BMF) pada 15 Sept 2008. Adakah kes ini telah diselesaikan?

MOGOK oleh masyarakat Penans dari Long Nen, Long Belok, Long Sayan, Long Kevok, Long Bayan, Ba Marong dari Sungai Layun, Tutoh. Tindakan ini susulan janji yang dikatakan masih tidak ditunai termasuk pengetepian hak tanah, air, elektrik dan tadika untuk anak-anak mereka bersekolah.

Pembiayaan biasiswa bagi menggalakan masyarakat Penan melanjutkan pelajaran dalam bidang teknikal dan bagi meninggalkan cara kehidupan tradisional mereka. Beberapa pelajar Penan dihantar ke Kuching Youth Development Center (KYDC)dan dibantu oleh Pemuda Parti Pesaka Bumiputra Bersatu (PBB) yang diterajui oleh En.Dennis Ngau...yang ini Beres..!

Tukar terma Orang Ulu kepada Lun Dayah?.Hmmmmm...idea ini pernah menghangatkan ruangan kritikan di media internet.


Program E-Kasih. E-Kasih merupakan satu sistem pangkalan data keluarga miskin yang diwujudkan diperingkat nasional bagi membantu merancang, melaksana dan memantau program kemiskinan. Mereka yang layak mendaftar dalam program berkenaan adalah memenuhi kriteria status kemiskinan bedasarkan pendapatan per kapita isi rumah Pendapatan Garis Kemiskinan (PGK) 2007.Ini bermaksud isi rumah yang mempunyai pendapatan kurang daripada RM1,000 sebulan di kawasan luar bandar dan RM1,500 bagi kawasan bandar...beres YB..!


Kedaya Telang Usan Agropolitan Project in Lio Mato, Baram. Program ini Dikatakan akan “Makmurkan Baram” dalam tempoh 3-5 tahun akan datang....Hmmm BERES..!!

Pembangunan kawasan perlancongan di Tenyok, Long Bedian...BERES..!. Bagaimana dengan kampung-kampung lain?. Adakah program seumpama ini juga turut diperkenalkan.?

Pembinaan Empangan Hidro mini di Ulu Baram- Di dalam suasana bantahan terhadap empangan Baram di bawah plan SCORE, projek empangan mini ini diperkenalkan di Ulu Baram bagi menampung keperluan setempat. Mengikut anggaran kasar, kawasan yang dicadangkan terletak di dalam liputan kawasan yang akan ditenggelami air sekiranya Empangan Baram mengambil tempat. Jadi, untuk apa ia diperkenalkan?. Sekiranya empangangan "God Gift" dibatalkan,saya percaya 100% OU menyokong pembinaan Hidro mini bagi menaggani keperluan elektrik di setiap kampung di Baram. Hmmmm...yang ini tak beres YB.

Jika PM turun ke padang melihat sendiri hasil 5 tahun di semua kampung di Telang Usan mungkin ini maklum balas beliau...

Tiada Kesudahan Dengan Isu Pengambilan Tanah

Beberapa petikan tek ucapan Violet Yong, DAP di DUN Sarawak pada 14.11.2010. Antaranya menyentuh soal pengambilan tanah dan juga beberapa soalan-soalan berani yang menyentuh harta kekayaan yang dimiliki KM.

"Below is my text of speech I read in the Dewan on Thursday and the
occasion interruption which I wanted to share with all Sarawakians.

I have to bring to your attention the seriousness of the grabbing of
land in Sarawak by you-all-know-who.

So many parcels of land have been taken away, land that belonged to
the State that is rightfully owned by all the people of Sarawak and
should be used for building hospitals, schools, roads or sport
facilities. But, NO, in the “Name of Urban Development”, these lands
are taken away right under our nose and given to private cronies
companies to enrich themselves.

Private lands are now being grabbed by the BN State Government without
fair compensation parcel by parcel. One stark example is the Bako
lands where 3,000 acres of land that has been and still is until today
subject to Section 47.

(At this junction I was interrupted as they want to know who I am
referring to. I told them, “ you be patient. I will let you know who
later. keep your ears clear and clean”) since 38 donkey years ago are
now going to be taken away by the BN state government without fair,
reasonable and adequate compensation paid to landowners

Penantian di DUN Telang Usan

Beberapa usaha kebelakangan ini dilipat ganda terutama pembangunan infrastruktur di daerah Telang Usan. Di mata pengkritik usaha drastik ini dilihat sebagai satu gimik politik dan helah memancing pengundi OU. Petanda-petanda ini jelas bahawa pilihanraya negeri tidak lama lagi dan mungkin selewat-lewatnya pada bulan March. Di DUN Telang Usan, teka-teki belum terjawab lagi siapa yang bakal menyahut persaingan merebut kerusi Telang Usan yang kini agak panas. Bagi YB Lihan Jok penghujung penggal lima tahun beliau berkhidmat semakin hampir dan masih terdapat persoalan dan kritikan terhadap beliau belum lagi terjawab. Ada khabar juga beliau mungkin akur dan melepaskan tanggjawab ini kepada penyandang beliau dari kampung Long Bedian, En Dennis Ngau. Walau apa pun nama baru seperti Dennis Ngau tiba-tiba menjadi bualan di lidah pengkritik dan media internet kerana haluan dan latar belakang beliau mungkin tidak jauh berbeza dengan yang terdahulu…maklumlah dari kampung yang sama dan latarbelakang politik serta fahaman yang sama.

Beberapa bulan yang lepas, veteran politik Kebing Wan telah awal-awal menyatakan beliau akan bertanding pada pilihanraya yang akan datang. Sejurus selepas kenyataan tersebut, berbagai tomahan dan kritikan telah dilemparkan kepada beliau supaya terus berundur dari pentas politik. Sebelum ini, beliau akan bertanding bagi kerusi SNAP. Ada juga ura-ura bahawa DAP mungkin akan mencuri peluang untuk bertanding seperti yang dinyatakan oleh Protem Komiti Bahagian Marudi, En Michael Tuah Ding. Walaubagaimanapun, teka-teki ini akan terjawab pada hari penamaan calon nanti…manalah tahu En Harrisson Ngau yang kini aktif di pihak PKR mungkin mempunyai potensi dan akan mencuba nasib.???

Kredibiliti YB Lihan Jok Dipersoalkan.

Bermula dengan menghangatkan isu terma Orang Ulu kepada Lun Dayah, ramai pengkritik menghentam di dalam media internet dan menjadi buah mulut masyarakat OU."Dam is a God gift" pula mendapat reaksi panas daripada masyarakat OU yang risau akan nasib tanah ulu Baram yang akan dikuburkan oleh takungan air untuk "menjana" "kuasa" mereka.Lebih-lebih lagi beliau adalah penganut Kritian mazhab SIB yang biasa dikenali dengan berpegang teguh dengan ajaran agama. Nama agung 'YESUS'atau 'TUHAN' biasa berkumandang di dalam gereja-gereja. Siapa pula yang ditafsirkan sebagai'GOD'di pentas politik?. Kenapa kita berani memperjudikan nama 'Tuhan' untuk mempertahankan pendapat ilmiah?.

Sekali lagi, di dalam suasana tegang mempertahankan tanah adat NCR oleh OU, penglibatan langsung beliau di dalam meleraikan isu ini yang berpihak kepada syarikat swasta sedikit sebanyak melukakan hati OU yang terlibat. Bermula dengan kes mogok oleh Penan, beliau menjadi perunding mewakili kerajaan dan syarikat balak dengan masyarkat Penan. Siapa yang perlu dilindungi? Dan siapa pula yang memberi mandat kepada beliau untuk menjadi YB?.

Kini, penglibatan beliau secara langsung dan tidak langsung dengan hal ehwal dalaman OU menyebabkan sedikit kepincangan. Di kampung beliau, Lg Bedian sendiri,ada yang mengatakan bahawa mereka ada 'Team A' dan 'Team B'. Ini termasuk campur tangan dalam perlantikan ketua masyarakat yang sedikit dipandang serong oleh orang kampung. Di Long Semiang,penglibatan kakitangan awan kerajaan SOA Marudi, saudara Jeffery Jalong juga terlibat di dalam perlantikan Ketua Kampung yang dikemudikan beberapa orang yang dikatakan mempunyai pertalian dengan YB Lihan. Sebenarnya terdapat cerita disebalik pertukaran Ketua Kampung tersebut yang berunsurkan kepentingan diri sesetengah pihak. Ini amat memeranjatkan, dan bagi kerajaan yang memerintah sekarang,BN perlakuan seumpama ini adalah badi di dalam ketelusan pengurusan hal ehwal OU. Ini juga dijangka akan memberi impak yang maksima pada pilihanraya akan datang sekiranya segelintir 'ikan bilis' ini terus memain peranan dan mendapat sebanyak peluang yang ada untuk mengisi wang saku.

Pada hemah saya, kedudukan YB Lihan sekarang umpama telur di hujung tanduk. Tibanya masanya parti BN cuba pula jentera baru kerana untuk mentadbir sekiranya mendapat mandat pada masa akan datang. Sekiranya individu ini masih berlegar di Telang Usan,masyarakat akan kian hilang kepercayaan dan merasakan mereka dikongkong sepenuhnya, dari segi pemikiran, pembangunan dan malah ketua mereka sendiri dilantik orang lain. Akibatnya nanti OU bukan tidak percaya dengan YB Lihan, tetapi kepada BN. Ini adalah berdasarkan pemerhatian terhadap perkembangan masa sekarang dan kenyataan yang tidak berpihak kepada mana-mana parti politik. Sekiranya BN melihat dari sudut positif,individu ini harus disingkirkan awal sebelum populariti tercemar dengan hal-hal remeh lebih-lebih lagi pilihanraya negeri yang tidak lama lagi.

Kini, golongan muda dan berpelajaran banyak berkongsi idea dengan teknologi internet. Begitu juga mereka disajikan dengan banyak berita dari internet sama ada dari laman Blog, FB, email mahupun media bebas.Kritikan terhadap cara pentadbiran YB Lihan semakin pedas dan mula dipertikaikan. Mungkin di Hulu Baram tidak mendapat berita yang sama kerana tidak ada kemudahan inernet melainkan saluran radio kayan-kenyah. Nampaknya banyak kerja-kerja pentadbiran di ulu Baram tidaklah rahsia sangat dan lambut laun semua akan terbangkor...dan malangnya...sudah terlambat.
